Former SEPULTURA Drummer Schedules DJing Appearance At STRIFE Concert Afterparty
July 11, 2007The reunited original lineup of the California hardcore band STRIFE will perform at the Roxy in Hollywood this Saturday, July 14. Also scheduled to appear are HOTWIRE and EYEAGAINST. The afterparty will take place at On The Rox and will feature a DJ set by MIXHELL — the DJ/hip hop/electro project featuring former SEPULTURA drummer Igor "Iggor" Cavalera and his wife Laima Leyton.
As previously reported, MIXHELL is featured in a new Brazilian commercial for Nokia in which five DJs come together to perform live using only mobile phones. Watch the three-minute commercial at YouTube.
Igor Cavalera left SEPULTURA in June 2006 due to "artistic differences." He has since been replaced by Jean Dolabella (ex-UDORA).
Igor is the second Cavalera to leave SEPULTURA. In 1996, Max Cavalera exited the group after the rest of the band fired Max's wife Gloria as SEPULTURA's manager.
Igor and Max are currently working on a brand new project which will feature collaborations with various guest musicians, including SOULFLY's Marc Rizzo and GOJIRA's Joe Duplantier.
